1918 Dirt Road Decor
Hello
Meredith, owner & designer
Hi there! Meredith here. I am married to my very sweet, very busy farmer/rancher/business owner husband, Ryan. We live near Ipswich, South Dakota where Ryan farms crops & manages a cow/calf operation. My role (for now) is to deliver lunches & keep him company during trips to the elevator, sale barn, feed store, and I love it.
I stay busy salvaging old wood & attending auctions so I have materials to upcycle into unique home décor pieces. I spend some time at the computer designing, too, but the majority of my days are spent in the garage/workshop building flags, signs, and anything else I can make out of a chunk of wood.
I also have chickens, goats, a horse, two pigs, and a steer I raised as a bottle calf. I have a large vegetable garden each summer and love canning pickles and salsa. Growing our own food is a ton of hard work, but incredibly rewarding.
I taught high school Spanish for twelve years before deciding I wanted to pursue my business full time. I had a sign in my home office that read "Do more of what makes you happy." It wasn't that teaching didn't make me happy, but allowing my creativity to flow, working with my hands, and chatting with customers at shows makes my heart sing. The world of education is still near & dear to my heart & now I cheer on students, teachers, & parents from the sidelines.
I absolutely LOVE going to shows. Chatting with new & former customers fills my heart and is the best part of my business.
My business is named after some of the things I love here at home. Our unique barn, which as a "gothic style" roof was built in 1918 and we have many dirt roads around our farm. I often think about the work that went in to building our barn with nails and hammers; it makes me extra thankful for my power tools!
Thanks for stopping by my website. I hope to see you soon!
